RESONERA MERA!

Svenska fioler med resonanssträngar

In Jan Lings thesis Nyckelharpan there is a statement that there were violins with sympathetic strings in Hälsingland. There is a reference to F Walter in Nor, Järvsö, Hälsingland in the notes of Tobias Norlind (former director of the Stockholm Music Museum). Walter said or wrote that in old days many fiddlers had sympathetic strings, first three then later five, and the last one Walter saw use a fiddle like this was Karl Sved in Delsbo. Sved was visited during the process of writing Svenska Låtar and also had an tune book (so called spelmansbok) with older tunes that he used to play.
