Unfortunately this viol (viola da gamba), kept at the Swedish museum of performing arts (formerly known as Stockholm music museum), is unsigned but my guess is that it is not crafted in Sweden. If that is a correct assumption it shows that the tulip pattern, present on several fingerboards on double-deckers, also was common elsewhere in Europe.
